The New Atatürk Cultural Center is a transformation project of an existing cultural center with the same name which was built in the 1960s. The old building was a cultural heritage but unfortunately, it was demolished at the end of 2018 because of malfunction in several years by virtue of political issues.
The new building designed by the same architectural office (Tabanlioglu Architects) and the principle of design is preserving significant architectural elements in the old building as the facade, building proportion and some of the interior objects which was designed by very famous artists in the building.
The new contemporary culture center has a program as 2500 seat capacity opera hall, some other performance halls, library, exhibition halls, museums, cafes and restaurants in this design. The building is under construction phase and the construction is expected to finish at the end of 2020.
